Nobles are generally placed in the larger cells at the back of the hold, rather than in tower cells. The smaller cells along the outer walls are for the average prisoner, and all outer cells have a small arrow-slit-type window. Those who have committed particularly heinous crimes such as rape, murder, or an assault to the royal person are condemned to the "black cells" in the center. All prisoners, regardless of their crimes, are fed twice a day, and chamber pots are emptied once a day as needed.
The hold is located directly below the main keep, the facade of which faces northeast. House Maquesta condemns torture and does not practice it on its prisoners in any official capacity, so there are no torture chambers located in its prisonhold. The royal House does not look favorably upon its criminals, however, nor does it believe in unnecessarily excessive punishment.
